One of the common complaints golfers have is always hooking their golf shots. Today I wanted to share with you a couple of tips which should out you on the road to removing the hook shot from your golf game.
Cure the Hook 1:
When trying to fix the golf swing hook firstly look at your set-up, check your alignment, ball position and your grip. Your clubface may be completely open, so make sure you square it behind the ball.
When you are in your stance and addressing the ball have a look at your grip, make sure only two knuckles are visible on your front hand. Any more than two then your grip will likely be the main culprit to you making a hook.
Cure the Hook 2:
If practicing on grass check your divot after your shot, if the divot is pointing towards the right of your intended target then your swing is going in-to-out and this will cause a hook shot.
To ensure you have the proper alignment put two clubs on the ground, either side if the ball facing your intended target, as long as you line up correctly your ball should go straight.
The problem with golfers that hook their shots is they over compensate and open the clubface and aim to far to the right. The alignment check above will ensure your set-up is correct.
Cure the Hook 3:
Focus on completing your backswing in a straight line and then as you start your downswing pull the club through with your left arm always making sure the clubhead is behind your arm and hand. Try and visualise you are trying to cut through the golf ball encouraging a slice or fade shot.
This shot will have your attempting to hit a slice shot, which is the immediate opposite to the hook shot.
Get out their and practice straight away, I am sure with these tips in know time you will be hitting straight shots.
